About CarveIQ

Interactive visualizations that make carving technique actually make sense.

What is CarveIQ?

CarveIQ is a free learning tool for snowboarders who want to understand the mechanics of carving. Instead of reading flat diagrams in a textbook, you interact with them — drag a slider to see how edge angle changes the board's grip, explore each phase of a turn, and see how body position affects every part of the arc.

Why we built it

Most snowboard instruction relies on coaches telling riders what to do, but very few tools show the underlying physics of why it works. CarveIQ bridges that gap — it's built for riders who want to truly understand what's happening under their feet.

What's coming

  • 3D board model that tilts to show edge angle in three dimensions
  • Pressure distribution charts for each phase of the turn
  • Annotated video breakdowns synced to the interactive diagrams
  • Body position, pressure distribution, and turn phase technique guides

Open source

CarveIQ is open source. The code is publicly available on GitHub. If you're a developer who loves snowboarding and wants to contribute, we'd love your help.
